Schools Behaviour Policy

At Thomas Francis Academy, the ethos of classroom is important in supporting the children in their learning, developing social skills and in building relationships.

It is vital for the children to develop good work habits and for them to appreciate what is expected in terms of their work and behaviour.

In each class we discuss ‘expectations’ which are clear and easily understood. These are displayed in the classroom and made known to everyone involved in the classroom.  E.g. No running signs.

Examples of Class Expectations

  • All children to work to the best of their abilities

  • To treat each other with respect

  • To obey the instructions of all the school staff

  • To take good care of equipments and resources

  • To co-operate with each other

  • To always tell the truth

  • To behave in a calm and orderly way

  • Speak politely

  • Move around the class safely

More specifically we aim for pupils to:

  • Learn courtesy good manners, positive work ethics and good behaviour

  • Develop awareness of self sensitivity and sensitivity to others

  • Acquire moral values and confidence to make and hold judgments

  • Develop habits of self discipline and acceptable standards of behaviour

  • Develop the capacity to form relationships based upon kindness, sympathy and consideration to the needs of others.

  • Develop an awareness of the rich cultural heritage inherent in our school and the community and to respect the dignity and cultural inheritance of others.
